On July 21st, the Australian government announced that they were extending JobKeeper payments from September 27th (the original end date) right up until March of 2021, in order to further support struggling Australian businesses and their employees.
Will my business qualify?
To qualify for JobKeeper 2.0, it is required by the Australian government that your business will need to demonstrate a noticeable decline GST turnover over the last 2 quarters to the end of September, compared to that of 2019. For businesses with an average turnover of less than $1 billion, the decline has to be at least 30% and for businesses with a turnover that exceeds $1 billion, it must be 50%. It has also been stated that on the 4th of January 2021, businesses that are receiving JobKeeper must confirm a decline of 15% for all quarters to the end of 2020 to continue receiving payments.
